September 16 – 22
Sept. 16: Welcome dinner and introductory talk
Sept. 17 National holiday. Depending on the weather, take a train ride through Hozu Gorge or visit a sake brewery
Sept. 18 Japanese lesson at the Kyoto Nihongo Gakko.
Sept. 19 Visit a calligraphy museum and take a lesson in the art of the brush.
Sept. 20 Cooking lesson
Sept. 21. Visit the Toji temple market and visit a martial arts center in the evening to see Kendo and Iaido (swordsmanship) being taught
Sept. 22 Farewell lunch with traditional music on the koto (Japanese zither) and shakuhachi (bamboo flute)

October 21 – 27
Oct. 21 Welcome dinner and introductory talk
Oct. 22 Attend the Festival of the Ages, Jidai Matsuri. In the afternoon visit a zen temple and hear a lecture by a zen monk
Oct. 23 Japanese lesson at the Kyoto Nihongo Gakko.
Oct. 24 Visit a calligraphy museum and take a lesson in the art of the brush.
Oct. 25 Go to Kitano Shrine for its monthly flea market. In the afternoon, take a lesson in making traditional sweets.
Oct. 26 Cooking lesson
Oct. 27 Farewell lunch with traditional music on the koto (Japanese zither) and shakuhachi (bamboo flute)

November 18 – 24
Nov. 18 Welcome dinner and introductory talk
Nov. 19 Japanese lesson at the Kyoto Nihongo Gakko.
Nov. 20 Visit a calligraphy museum and take a lesson in the art of the brush.
Nov. 21 Visit the Toji temple market and take a lesson in making traditional sweets.
Nov. 22 Cooking lesson
Nov. 23 National Holiday. Take a trip through the Hozu Gorge weather permitting or visit A sake brewery.
Nov. 24 Farewell lunch with traditional music on the koto (Japanese zither) and shakuhachi (bamboo flute)
